About Alhaurin el Grande

Situated at the foot of the Sierra de Mijas, on its northern side and overlooking the splendid Guadalhorce Valley, the territory of Alhaurín El Grande is populated by citrus trees, fruit trees and orchards.

Neolithic, Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans and Arabs have left their mark on these lands.

Nowadays, it is a modern and prosperous town, whose most interesting monuments include: the Church of La Encarnación, the Town Hall and Caves of the Convent, the Chapel of Santa Vera Cruz, the Chapel of San Sebastián, the Arch of El Cobertizo and the Lucena Fountain.

Also of interest is the Molino de los Corchos, which is still in a magnificent state of preservation, as well as the Bread Museum, the Agriculture Museum and the wholesale market, the only one still in operation in the whole province. A visit to the Municipal Library, the Indoor Swimming Pool and the Antonio Gala Theatre, modern and avant-garde landmark buildings, is also a must, as are the numerous parks and gardens that dot the municipality, perched at the foot of the Sierra de Mijas, a place of great natural value that is well worth visiting.
